At the heart of Schmieta+ is Gerd Schmieta, a Boston-based industrial designer dedicated to crafting innovative solutions that enhance everyday lives. With over three decades of experience, Gerd’s journey began in Germany, where he studied at the Hamburg Art Academy under Peter Raacke and Dieter Rams, two renowned designers who instilled in him a deep passion for user-centered design. After receiving his Master of Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Gerd spent ten formative years at IDEO, gaining invaluable experience across multiple industries and disciplines.
In 2003, Gerd founded Schmieta+ to bring his expertise directly to clients, fostering a personal and collaborative design process. Since starting his own studio, Schmieta+ has grown into a trusted resource for clients who seek more than just a design service; they want a team committed to bringing their vision to life. Whether working with startups, large corporations, or nonprofits, Gerd blends creativity with functionality to deliver products that truly resonate with users and make a lasting impact.
